Background
Over the last number of years ESB has moved away from engaging independent or stand-alone IT contractors and has developed an approach of engaging with prefered IT service suppliers through framework agreements.
System Dynamics has supplied IT consultants to the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) for more than fifteen years. During that time we have had varying numbers of people who have worked with different managers and projects. Historically, many of the Consultants worked on the mainframe side. In recent years we have supplied skills in many other areas such as client server, business analysis, e-commerce, SAP, and support.
Solution
ESB has selected System Dynamics as a prefered vendor across a number of Framworks; we are currently on three major frameworks:
- Web Development Framework – skills provided include SharePoint, ASP, ASP.Net, Net weaver, WebSphere, and Java
- Project Management and Business Process Analysis Framework
- ICT – Generic IT Skills (including SAP, Infrastructure, Helpdesk, Testing etc)
Benefits
By providing a comprehensive range of skills and services across applications and infranstructure, the ESB has benefitted from:
- access to experienced, knowledgeable, and cost-effective consultants within a fully managed framework,
- the ability to ramp the consultants up and down at short notice,
- active service management methodologies to ensure that knowledge is retained within the teams as part of our FlexITeam engagement,
- the ability to outsource projects where required through FlexIProject, bringing additional flexibility.
